I’ve been thinking a lot about what I should write here. Sometimes I feel like posts about creative process often fall short at providing real inspiration or guidance, and I’ve left a page feeling like something was missing more times than I can count . The problem is, I don’t know exactly what would have made me feel better. It’s just that the advice often feels a bit shallow or too simple, like “work on your values”. It’s sound advice, I know, but I feel like I was left wondering. How do I get to do that? Who can I learn from? How does one even begin to understand what values are, and how to apply them?

I don’t know if I’ll manage to do any different, but I’ll try. So here we go.

For some of these I asked someone to help me find questions one might have about artists work processes, and I’m writing this as if it were an interview – I feel like this helps get out of my own head and talk about things I wouldn’t think of if i relied only on my own perspective. I’ll also try to disclose some very personal details about certain pieces – particular struggles I had, either technical or emotional, that ended up being part of that artwork’s identity.
